چکیده

Background Navigator gating is commonly used to minimize respiratory motion in free-breathing whole-heart coronary MRA [1]. However, lengthy and unpredictable acquisition times remain a drawback. Respiratory self-navigation (SN) [2-3], conversely, enables 100% scan efficiency, but performs motion correction over a broad range of respiratory displacements, which can result in image artifacts. Here, we propose an alternative respiratory motion-resolved approach based on 3D radial phyllotaxis sampling, respiratory motion sorting and sparse reconstruction.

3D projection reconstruction based respiratory motion correction technique for free-breathing coronary MRA

INTRODUCTION: Respiratory motion is one of the major challenges for coronary MRA. Current navigator based free-breathing techniques measure the position of the diaphragm and use a fixed correlation factor to estimate the position of the heart. Such techniques suffer from errors due to the indirect estimation of heart position and are plagued by low scan efficiencies (typically between 30 and 50...

Self-guided retrospective motion correction (SEGMO) for free-breathing whole-heart coronary MRA with 100% acquisition efficiency

Background Free-breathing whole heart coronary MRA uses diaphragm navigator to gate data acquisition, which suffers from the need for time-consuming and exquisite positioning, prolonged scan time due to low gating efficiency, and inaccuracy in motion detection. In this work, a respiratory motion correction scheme is proposed with an affine motion model for accurate estimation of respiratory mot...

Free-Breathing Whole-Heart Coronary MRA: Motion Compensation Integrated into 3D Cartesian Compressed Sensing Reconstruction

Respiratory motion remains a major challenge for whole-heart coronary magnetic resonance angiography (CMRA). Recently, iterative reconstruction has been augmented with non-rigid motion compensation to correct for the effects of respiratory motion. The major challenge of this approach is the estimation of dense deformation fields. In this work, the application of such a motion-compensated recons...

Multi-Phase Coronary MR Angiography Using a 3D Cones Trajectory

Introduction: Non-invasive visualization of the coronary arteries in vivo is one of the most important goals in cardiovascular imaging. Compared to other paradigms for coronary MR angiography (MRA), a 3D whole-heart iso-resolution free-breathing approach simplifies prescription effort, requires less patient cooperation, and supports retrospective reformats at arbitrary planes. However, this tec...

Improved coronary artery definition with T2-weighted, free-breathing, three-dimensional coronary MRA.

BACKGROUND Three-dimensional (3D) navigator-gated and prospectively corrected free-breathing coronary magnetic resonance angiography (MRA) allows for submillimeter image resolution but suffers from poor contrast between coronary blood and myocardium. Data collected over >100 ms/heart beat are also susceptible to bulk cardiac and respiratory motion. To address these problems, we examined the eff...
